Röhlig Logistics once again supports charitable institutions and projects worldwide with the "Röhlig Charity" initiative
Bremen, 05 October 2022
The owner-managed logistics company Röhlig Logistics has carried out the global "Röhlig Charity" initiative for the second time in 2022. Röhlig branches in almost 30 countries have supported charitable institutions and projects with more than 140,000 euros.
Philip W. Herwig, Managing Partner at Röhlig Logistics, explains: “After last year’s successful launch, we are very pleased that the second edition of ‘Röhlig Charity’ has also been a complete success. As part of the initiative, employees of our country organisations can suggest charitable or environmentally friendly projects that they consider worthy of support or even support themselves. In an online vote, the employees then choose which of the suggested charities should receive the donation of 5,000 euros. The active participation worldwide has shown that ‘Röhlig Charity’ is very close to the hearts of our staff. Especially in these challenging times, it means a lot to us to make a significant contribution to the support of charitable causes."
Joint effort by employees across the globe
The charity initiative was met with very positive feedback from the global Röhlig network. Stephanie Vineeta, HR Manager for Southeast Asia, says: "Given the many challenges people around the world are currently facing, it was all the more important and rewarding to come together for a good cause. In addition, many of our employees suggest projects which they themselves are involved in. This gives the initiative a very personal touch and has the pleasant side effect of getting to know each other better on an interpersonal level.”
Most country organisations donated the full amount of 5,000 euros, or the equivalent in local currency, to a single project. At the request of the employees, some countries, including Australia, New Zealand and Germany, decided to divide their donations among several good causes. In total, the logistics company has supported more than 30 organisations in the context of the “Röhlig Charity” initiative.
Support for people, animals and the environment
The donations mainly benefit aid projects for people as well as environmental and animal welfare projects. These include Hogar Dulce Hogar in Mexico, a foundation for the protection of vulnerable and disadvantaged children; Beyond Blue in Australia, an organisation promoting mental health and well-being and Luna's Little Stars in the United Kingdom, an initiative in support of seriously ill children and their families. Also among the winning charities are the reforestation projects Forestami in Italy and Bosquia in Spain as well as the animal welfare organisations Soi Dog in Thailand and SPCA Durban & Coast in South Africa. Röhlig plans to continue the global charity initiative in the coming years.
About "Röhlig Charity"
The global charity initiative is just one component of the “Röhlig Charity Programme”, under which Röhlig supports various organisations and institutions worldwide. In 2022, the logistics service provider also supported the “ASB-Wünschewagen” with 25,000 euros. The project is aimed at fulfilling a last transport wish for critically ill people, allowing them to visit a personal favourite place in the final stages of their lives. In addition, Röhlig donated 200,000 euros to a non-profit organisation that cares for refugees from Ukraine in Poland.
