Bremen, 23 May 2024 - Röhlig Logistics continues its commitment to the Bremen Wünschewagen. Run by the ASB Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Landesverband Bremen (Bremen Worker’s Samaritan Federation), the project is aimed at fulfilling the heartfelt last wishes of critically ill people with a short life expectancy. On board the specially converted ambulance, volunteer Samaritans transport passengers in their final phase of life to a personal favourite place.
Sarah Stahmann, the project manager from ASB, explains: "We were able to make 25 wishes come true last year and have already received several requests for 2024. The continued support from Röhlig Logistics is extremely helpful and gives us more flexibility to fulfill as many wishes as possible.” The passengers range from young children to elderly individuals, and every trip is special in its own unique way. Reflecting on the past year, Sarah Stahmann says: “One trip that especially stood out to me was for a young cancer patient whose biggest wish was to visit the set of her favourite TV show. We took her and her mother to Cologne, where they spent the day exploring the set and meeting the actors. But that wasn’t all – the little girl even got to play a small role herself and was completely over the moon.”
"We are delighted to support the Wünschewagen initiative for the third consecutive year and continue to help fulfill these special wishes. Our donation of 12,000 euros is part of the 'Röhlig Charity Programme’, with which we support a wide array of local and global charity projects."
Philip W. Herwig, Managing Partner of Röhlig Logistics
The ASB-Wünschewagen is entirely run by volunteers and financed exclusively through donations. The volunteer Samaritans not only accompany the trips, but are also involved in other areas such as public relations and fundraising.
