9th July 2021 - With the Euro 2020 Finals fast approaching, fans around the world eagerly await to see who will be crowned champion. However, Röhlig Logistics recently experienced a transfer deadline of our own. It began with a call to Röhlig China one evening in late June from one of Europe’s most prestigious football clubs.
Borussia Dortmund was founded in Germany in 1909. Winner of the UEFA Champions League, European trophies, German championships and reigning winner of the German DFB trophy, the club now needed help with an upcoming logistics operation in Asia. With little time to spare, Borussia Dortmund decided to approach Röhlig Logistics, a globally trusted logistics provider also founded in Germany in 1852.
The Challenge: Transporting one of Germany's top trophies
Borussia Dortmund was preparing for their much-anticipated “Black & Yellow – 09 Days Around the World” fan tour, and required the DFB trophy to be picked up from an event in Singapore that following weekend. The cup is considered to be one of Germany's most important club titles.
After pick-up, the trophy needed to be export customs cleared and flown to Pudong International Airport (PVG), guided through the intricacies of China customs before finally being delivered to the BVB office in Shanghai.
What’s more, the entire process needed to be completed before Thursday 1st July in time for an event and photo shoot the following day.
Devising an action plan with our long-term partner

The Röhlig Logistics team quickly assembled their resources and the plan was executed without a hitch. The prized DFB football cup arrived in plenty of time for its photoshoot by the Bund in central Shanghai. Our team was thrilled to utilize our expertise to assist this project to the full satisfaction of this special client, Borussia Dortmund.
After a swift inter-Asia transfer the cup will now travel through China on the BVB national tour, passing Nanjing and Shenyang before a fan-party & exclusive-partner event in Beijing in mid-July.
