Röhlig Logistics has recently opened a state-of-the-art warehouse close to major transport links in Thailand, marking a significant milestone for the company’s expansion across Southeast Asia. This warehouse in Thailand comes just two years after the opening of the region’s largest 23,000 sqm warehouse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Strategically located within a Free Trade Zone near Laem Chabang Port, the new 16,000 sqm Thailand warehouse facility is designed to enhance the company’s logistics services for a leading electrical goods manufacturer, supporting the regional distribution of spare parts to over 20 countries.
A prime location for logistics customers in Thailand
Positioned near the major industrial manufacturing zones and one of Thailand’s key shipping hubs, the new Free Zone warehouse facility provides unique advantages in logistics efficiency and connectivity. The entire site encompasses over 20,000 sqm of usable space with high, 9-meter ceilings, 14 loading docks, ramp access, two 100 sqm office spaces for operational and client support, and a large yard space for vehicles and trailer parking. With a thermal isolation rooftop, sprinklers, fire alarms, CCTV surveillance and 24/7 on-site security, the gated facility ensures maximum safety, making it ideal for sensitive electrical goods.
Comprehensive logistics and fulfilment services from Röhlig Logistics
In addition to strong transport links, this advanced warehouse offers a full range of logistics services, from unloading and inbound management to sorting and inventory accuracy. Röhlig Logistics Thailand can handle the unloading of cargo from trucks and containers, followed by the unpacking, sorting and verifying of parts and quantities against invoice documents, prepacking, labelling, ticketing and kitting, plus the configuration of printed circuit boards (PCBs) to ensure accuracy for our customers.
Within the current operational area, the warehouse maximises space utilisation with 8,000 pallet positions alongside bulk and quarantine areas, ensuring efficient stocking and quick access to inventory. Regular stock takes and a range of Value-Added Services (VAS) provide clients with options for customised handling and enhanced control. For a large, international electrical goods customer, the facility is also equipped to handle high-order volumes, supporting 71,000 order lines per year and 23,000 active stock-keeping units (SKUs).
Future-proofed with a state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS)
High order volumes and fast-moving electrical goods require an advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS). The new warehouse in Thailand benefits from a sophisticated WMS from Infor, a global leader in cloud-based software solutions. The AI-driven WMS software ensures Röhlig Logistics remains at the forefront of enhanced solutions for our customers. With key capabilities including automation and analytics to optimise operations and minimise human error, our customers can benefit from full visibility over their warehouse operations from day one of opening.
An opening ceremony combining cultural tradition with modern facilities
The warehouse has been operating successfully for just over one month. In October 2024, CEO Southeast Asia Laurie Forbes and Thailand General Manager Thaweesak Rakprakobkij were among the guests attending the opening ceremony of the new warehouse in Laem Chabang. Together with over 50 members of the Röhlig Logistics Thailand team, attendees made traditional offerings to usher in a successful future for the warehouse and its staff.
Opportunities for expansion
To meet evolving customer needs, the warehouse has built-in scalability, with the potential to expand by 5000sqm. The new facility exemplifies Röhlig Logistics’ commitment to supporting customers with innovative, reliable logistics solutions. Positioned for future growth and continuous enhancement, the Thailand warehouse strengthens Röhlig Logistics’ presence in the region, ready to adapt to the growing demands of customers.
