Update on the master contract negotiations between the International Longshoremen's Association ("ILA") and the United States Maritime Alliance ("USMX")

Declaration of Force Majeure

Mt. Prospect, 2 Oct 2024

Please note that ocean carriers (VOCCs) have declared Force Majeure for all vessels in transit to US East Coast and Gulf Coast ports. This does allow the ocean carriers to charge any additional operational costs associated with vessels delayed due to the strike to cargo on the water as of 1 October 2024 with a US East Coast or Gulf Coast port of discharge.

As an NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operation Common Carrier), Röhlig Logistics relies on VOCCs (Vessel-Operating Common Carrier) and therefore is declaring Force Majeure for all shipments to, from and through the US East Coast and Gulf Coast ports.  The ILA strike is beyond our control and is directly impacting port operations, including the movement of cargo, terminal closures and related transportation disruptions.

Therefore, Röhlig Logistics will have to pass on these additional charges.

Furthermore, Röhlig Logistics will pass on the disruption charges announced by the ocean carriers.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as soon as they become available.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your local Röhlig Logistics office.
